Loopwing won the TOKYO TECHNICAL VENTURE AWARD 2007.

 Thoroughly Safe

 -Solid structure, multiple fail-safes

No dependency on electrical controls
In order to ensure safety in the event of strong gusts, Loopwing Wind Turbine is equipped with multiple 3-4 fail-safes that do not depend on electrical control. Each of these fail-safes activates even during a power outage and works independently of one another, so that even if one fails, the others back up and ensure a safe state. One remarkable fail-safe is the "self-stalling blade" where front and rear blades interfere with each other and restrain the turbine from overspeeding in strong winds.

>> Fail-safe being required
In reaction to serial reported accidents caused by conventional wind turbines, practical and severe safety standards are getting in place around the world, such as the Consumer Labeling System of International Energy Agency(IEA), the Small Wind Certificate Corporation (supported by U.S. DOE and AWEA), and a ministerial ordinance of Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan.

Solid operation, little vibration
Loopwing Wind Turbine not only is free from torque-imbalance as suffered by vertical axis turbines but also has much less effect from centrifugal force as compared with the Propeller type. Each blade and axis of Loopwing Wind Turbine is connected at both ends, which assures low vibration = high safety.
