Engineering campaign accusation has been undertaking research and experiment for ean Ocean Current turbine energizerf which generates electric energy by rotating turbines under the sea with the power of current since 2008. They aim to complete a basic design of the products and starting to clarify the problems for commercialization. The ocean current energizer is an eco-friendly way to generate electric energy by making use of the power of the ocean current. Ability to generate the power will be proportional to the cube of the power of current. Several experiments have already been conducted in the past, but there are many challenges in cost to be commercialized. The benefits of this technology are 1) Enormous amount of potential energy around Japan such as the Kuroshio or Black Current, 2) the least effect on the environment and CO2 emission, 3) stable power out put compare with wind/solar energy. Substantiative experiments to verify the effectiveness of the technology with 1/50 scale device has been succeeded to generate 400KW in a water tank. For the next stage, the committee is formulating basic design of the experimental devices, installation under the sea, maintenance and operational control.
